A four-year PhD fellowship within the field of biomolecular nanoscale engineering with applications in medicinal chemistry is available at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Southern Denmark (SDU). The PhD fellowship is available from 1 September 2023 or shortly thereafter.

The PhD fellowship is embedded in the newly established NERD programme on DNA-encoded Chemistry funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and involves research groups from SDU, Aarhus University (AU) and University of Copenhagen (KU). The PhD fellowship is at the Nucleic Acid Center, SDU.

The fellowship is available in the group of Associate Professor Stefan Vogel where the research will be focused on DNA-programmed and –encoded chemical and enzymatic reactions encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles.

The project is highly multidisciplinary, involving diverse aspects of chemistry and biotechnology.

We seek a highly motivated and skilled person to work on biomolecular nanoscale engineering. The successful candidate should have a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry with documented research experience related to modified oligonucleotides and/or liposomes/peptides.

The position is available to candidates with a BA degree in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a related discipline. The candidates should be proficient in English and possess good interpersonal skills.

Deadline: 20 September 2023.
