Description & Expectations:
We are searching for an experienced Robotics Engineer specialising in integration of robotic systems across hardware, software, and communication layers. You can expect this to be a hands-on engineering role focused on making complex robotics systems work reliably in real-world environments.
Quadsat develops and builds long-range electronic warfare payloads and software that support multi-domain military operations through fast and precise radio frequency detection and geolocation across the electromagnetic spectrum. In this role you will be part of the Product Creation department, working with the other robotics engineers and closely with RF and mechanical engineers focusing on developing, designing and optimising the RF payloads.
The core responsibilities of this role focus on hands-on integration of robotic systems across hardware, software, and communication layers.
You can expect your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Integrating sensors, radios, compute units, and payloads into reliable, cohesive systems.
- Designing, implementing, and debugging communication across system components, with a strong focus on real-world performance, robustness and reliability.
- Developing and maintaining software in Python and/or C++ for Linux platforms close to hardware.
- Working with ROS1/ROS2 for system integration and data flow.
- Deploying, testing, and validating systems in operational environments.
- Supporting system bring-up, testing, and field deployment.
- Troubleshooting and debugging across hardware, OS, networking, and application layers.
- Continuously improving system stability, performance and reliability for real-world environments.
- We expect you to have an educational background in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or a similar field.
- Experience working on complex system integration problems, ideally involving real-time systems, high data throughput, or advanced communication systems (e.g. robotics, RF, or EW).
- Strong industry experience with Linux (we use Ubuntu) and embedded Linux platforms (e.g. NVIDIA Jetson, ARM-based systems).
- Experience debugging across hardware, OS, networking, and application layers.
- Knowledge of communication and networking would be beneficial (including hardware interfaces, latency, bandwidth, reliability trade-offs).
- Experience with middleware and data handling including ROS1/ROS2, message passing systems, data serialisation.
- Proficiency in Python and/or C++.
- Experience working with sensors such as GNSS, IMU, cameras, LiDAR, or RF systems.
- Understanding of system architecture and data flows.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, and testing (unit/integration).
- English is our company language so fluency in English is a must.
Quadsat is at an exciting stage of our growth journey where you can make a meaningful impact with your work, and directly influence the development of advanced solutions. You will join a diverse team of innovative colleagues who are passionate about working with new technology development. Our work environment is characterised by a high degree of openness, a flat management structure, and a strong sense of community where we work closely together on tasks.
In the Product Creation department, you will join a team of driven and multi-disciplinary R&D engineers, with specialties in robotics, mechanical, software, and RF. Our open office setup brings all engineering functions together, with R&D working alongside both production and drone operations, enabling short feedback loops.
