One position as Assistant Professor in innovation for sustainable supply chains is open for applicants. 

SDU Global Sustainable Production at the Department of Innovation and Technology, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for one position as Assistant Professor in innovation for sustainable supply chain management. Applicants are expected to work and teach within fields related to leading-edge Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain Finance, Digitalization, Sustainability.

The Assistant Professor will be part the development of the section SDU Global Sustainable Production. The section is active in research projects around the world including Bangladesh, Myanmar, EU-27, Uganda, Denmark and Greenland. The section is also engaged in various outreach activities including policy advice, industry training, organizing knowledge dissemination events as well as PhD programs. 

Teaching will mainly be in our Bachelor of Engineering in Global Management and Manufacturing program, which has been updated and re-designed in the last year to reflect global trends and realities. Teaching may also be on SDU’s Master’s in Operations Management. There will be an opportunity to influence continued program development. 

Place of work is the SDU campus in Odense, Denmark. The starting date for the positions is 1  February 2025. Presence at the campus is mandatory.

Qualifications

Relevant candidates have strong scientific track records, are excellent educators with practice insights, have demonstrated ability to attract competitive funding. Applicants need a relevant engineering PhD within supply chain management or in operations management (with a supply chain management, SC financial, or similar, specialization). The candidate’s research should document engagement with developing innovative solutions for changing global supply chains towards becoming sustainable. Applicants without a relevant profile (e.g. CSR researchers, operations researchers) will not be taken into consideration. 

Assessment

The candidates are invited to provide:

  • Description of and motivation for research fields they wish to pursue (i.e. a research strategy). The research strategy must be detailed and cover the next five years. Special attention should be paid to funding opportunities.
  • Up to ten papers
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Other relevant material indicating that the candidate meets the sought qualifications
  • Information on previous teaching and supervision experience. Please attach as Teaching Portfolio 
  • Certificates/Diplomas (MSc and PhD) 

Conditions of employment
Employment as an assistant professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level and is a 3-year temporary position. The employment will cease without further notice at the end of the period.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
