The Danish Centre for Health Economics (DaCHE) at the Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for one or more positions as Professor(s) in Health Economics.

The position(s) are vacant from January 1st 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Job description

The Danish Centre for Health Economics is dedicated to applying economic theory and empirical methods to answer research questions with high health policy relevance, and to contribute to the improvement of the methods applied.

Our main research themes are

1) health related behaviour, incentives and motivation;
2) understanding barriers and facilitators that hinder/enhance equity in health and access to health care;
3) eliciting patients' and the publics' preferences and values; and
4) evaluating effects of new interventions/policies.

We offer courses at the bachelor and master level in Health Economics, Data Science, Evaluation, Economic Evaluation, Economics of Prevention and Pharmacoeconomics.

We are looking for candidates with the potential to decisively contribute to the centre’s research agenda. Successful candidates can document a track record in conducting high quality health economics research published in high-ranked journals relevant to the field.

Successful candidates can also document experience with university teaching in subjects related to economics and health economics.

The professor will be expected to teach and/or supervise students at bachelor, master and/or PhD level.

We expect the successful candidate to actively contribute to the development of the research centre through engagement in the centre’s social and academic life and guidance of junior faculty.

The successful candidate is expected to assist in securing a good financial foundation for the centre by attracting external research funding.

It is an advantage if the candidate can document skills in academic leadership, an ability to secure external research funding and/or a track record in establishing strong ties with the international research community.

Salary and terms of employment

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

  • up to 8 scientific peer-reviewed publications which the candidate considers as most important for the position. Please notice that one pdf.- or docx.-file must be attached for each publication.
  • a teaching portfolio which details the candidate’s prior teaching experience, teaching skills, and teaching philosophy
  • a research plan which details the candidate’s ideas and plans for her/his future research work.
