The freshwater group at the Department of Biology at the University of Southern Denmark is looking for a motivated research assistant in the field of sustainable lake management by 1 August 2023.

The full-time two-year position will mainly, but not exclusively, focus on monthly sediment and water sampling campaigns, followed by laboratory work. The work is part of a larger project which monitors a Danish lake before, during, and after lake restoration with focus on the sediment.

The successful candidate should fulfil the following requirements:

  • Master in biology or environmental sciences
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to prepare and conduct monthly fieldwork (physical fitness, boat steering, driver’s license B)
  • Knowledge in sampling, preparation, and analyses of general water quality parameters
  • Good skills in sampling and handling of sediment cores
  • Strong knowledge and experience in sequential phosphorus extraction with handling of large sample numbers
  • Skills in handling of DGT and DET probes
  • Good data management skills
  • Team-spirit
  • Good communication skills in both Danish and English.
