The Centre NanoSYD at The Mads Clausen Institute invites applications for a Postdoc-position in the field: Hyperspectral camera technology using short wave infrared sensor array. The position is in Odense, and the starting date is 1st of July 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, and end of position is 30.04.2026.

About the project
The job entails leading research efforts in advancing hyperspectral camera technology to address the global challenge of plastic and textiles identification.
Leveraging cutting-edge short-wave infrared (SWIR) sensor array technology, the focus lies on optimizing optical systems, characterizing experimental setups, and implementing sensor arrays spanning the 400 nm to 1700 nm spectral range. Key responsibilities include developing efficient illumination methods to enhance signal-to-noise ratio and spectral sensitivity, as well as conducting hyperspectral image analysis techniques like principal component analysis (PCA).

This position, supported by Innovation Fund Denmark, involves collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark, Aarhus University, and Newtec Engineering, leading global industrial partner in hyperspectral camera technology.

Additionally, opportunities exist to disseminate research findings through presentations at conferences and workshops throughout the project duration.

About the applicant
We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious candidate with a PhD degree in a field related to the project, such as optics, physics, engineering physics, or another closely related discipline. The preferred candidate has experience in hyperspectral imaging, experimental laboratory work, data analysis, and experience with camera technology. Moreover, the preferred candidate has good skills in communicating scientific results in English (written and spoken), can work structured, can work well in a team, as well as independently, and can quickly acquire new knowledge.

Research environment
The successful candidate will be affiliated with NanoSYD at the Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark, which is located at the Faculty of Engineering on the international campus in Odense, Denmark.
