SDU Robotics is involved in a variety of national and European projects and features a strong network of academic and industrial partners. We are a team of currently appr. 65 researchers, specialized in robot solutions involving modelling, simulation and control of advanced robot technologies (systems and services) for industrial, medical and welfare applications. We value teamwork, professional diligence, enthusiasm for robotics and the drive to adopt new skills and extended responsibilities. We offer an open, international team with flexible work organization and support of individual development.

SDU Robotics is part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), and located at the main Campus in Odense, at the core of the Odense Robotics Cluster involving 130+ startups and established companies in robotics. The aim of the group is to solve challenging research problems derived from real-life challenges by implementing novel robot solutions. We participate in implementing the achieved results in real solutions with end users as Universal Robots, LEGO, national hospitals and Novo Nordisk.

Job description

SDU Robotics currently has an open 1,5 year postdoc position with focus on Offline Programming of Robotic Tasks with Specified Cartesian Trajectories such as welding, grinding, polishing and brushing of industrial work pieces. Input is a 3D representation of robot, tool, work piece, environment and task trajectories and process specifications, and the goal is to automatically produce a collision free robot motion so that the tool traces the specified trajectory while fulfilling process specifications. Focus is also on generating robot programs that can easily be adjusted by the user based on trial executions of the generated trajectories.

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in robotics or similar and must have the following qualifications:

  • Documented experience with using offline programming systems.
  • Experience in programming in C++ and in developing maintainable robotics software.
  • Documented practical experience with applying offline programming technologies to real industrial applications.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Documented experience with applying NURBS/Bezier representations to represent trajectories.
  • In depth knowledge of the structure of CAD models.
  • Have worked with QT-based applications.
