We are looking to fill an Assistant Professor position in Earth evolution, with a special interest in using Raman spectroscopy to probe the evolution and dynamics of the modern and ancient carbon cycle.
The position will run for 3 years with starting date on April 1st, 2025.
The successful candidate will work closely with members of Nordcee (https://www.nordcee.dk/) in the Department of Biology at the University of southern Denmark who have a broad interest in the interface between microbes and environment.
What we seek:
- The candidate should have a strong interest in Earth History and a demonstrated record using Raman spectroscopy to solve problems in carbon cycle evolution and dynamics.
- The candidate should have completed a PhD with a strong publication record and the ability to attracted external research funding.
- The candidate is expected to contribute to the teaching program at the Department in the Bachelor and Master’s programs in Biology. The research activities (and the workplace) are situated in Odense.

As part of the Faculty of Science, the Department of Biology is located in Odense, the University’s largest campus. Odense is the country’s third largest city and is centrally located with easy commutes to Copenhagen and Aarhus (approximately 1½ hour).
