BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

Do you want to join one of the strongest biomedical mass spectrometry research environments in Europe? Here is an excellent opportunity to work on an exciting and challenging project in such an environment.

The Jørgensen group at the Protein Research Group/Section for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join a project on acidic disordered proteins and their impacts on heparin-binding proteins. The postdoc position is full time, limited initially to 1.5 years, starting 1 November 2023 or soon thereafter.

This is a highly interdisciplinary project between four research institutions with expertise in bioinformatics, mass spectrometry, NMR, and biochemistry/cell biology. You will be part of an international and dynamic research team. You will be motivated to use advanced mass spectrometry to discover and investigate disordered proteins and their interplay with extracellular proteoglycans. Initial studies on proteins involved in intravascular lipolysis (GPIHBP1 and LPL) will be used to define further studies on disordered acidic proteins selected by bioinformatics. You will manage an independent research project and assist in the supervision of undergraduate students.

Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with excellent communication skills.

For consideration, applicants must have:

  • A recent PhD degree in biochemistry, protein science/proteomics, analytical biochemistry or a similar field
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental protein biochemistry and mass spectrometry
  • Publications in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent English speaking, reading and writing skills.

In addition, applicants with one or more of the following types of experience will be preferred:

  • Working experience with LC-MS/MS, proteomics and cross-linking
  • Experience with biochemical characterization of intrinsically disordered proteins.

Deadline: 25 September 2023.
